Today’s Fabulous Friday Female is the lovely Osnat Hazan

Osnat HazanWhen I started posting the Fabulous Friday Female a short time ago, I shared that I wanted to acknowledge and celebrate a variety of different women.

Last weekend while crewing an event in London I met a lady who really inspired me….the lovely Osnat Hazan.  Osnat and her husband Shlomi had travelled all the way from Israel to the UK to volunteer as crew for Tony Robbins’ event “Unleash the Power Within”.

The crew at the event were amazing – I could draw inspiration from this group of incredible people and have my Fabulous Friday Female slots filled for the next year or two easily…but to me there was something very special about Osnat.

Osnat HazanWhat I loved about her was her pure heart and her understated way of doing what she was there to do…serve the participants and make their experience as beautiful as possible.  She didn’t make a big thing of it…she just got on and did it…and in doing so, she genuinely touched people’s lives.

Osnat always had a smile on her face, a kind word for everyone and a hug waiting for anyone who wanted one.  I was genuinely touched by her generosity of spirit and her desire to acknowledge those around her.  She is a beautiful woman, inside and out…and I would like for you to join me today in acknowledging and celebrating her.

She made a big impact on me when we met last weekend…and I know that I am not the only one.

As you know, I would love to acknowledge, honour and celebrate the women who have inspired you as well. So if there is someone that you believe should feature as a Fabulous Friday Female, then send me an email (claire@feminine1st.com) with 3 simple details:

  • A photo or link to a picture of her online (if there is a reason that you would prefer not to include a photo, just let me know)

So help me to share with all of our lovely ladies the real women who inspire YOU.

Today’s Fabulous Friday Female is the lovely Lacey Buchanan

Lacey BuchananTwo months ago, Lacey Buchanan took the brave decision to share her story and the story of her son Christian with the world via Youtube.

In her moving and emotional video you see her share through hand-written signs the story of Christian’s short life. From the elation she and her husband experienced when they discovered she was pregnant to the devastation when they learned that he had serious medical problems…and on to the horror of hearing from a total stranger that she was a ‘horrible person’ for not aborting him before he was born.

You see Christian was born with a condition called Tessier cleft. He was born with no eyes and with a severely cleft palate. Lacey shares the hurt of being stared at and whispered about wherever she went and the pain of hearing other children ask “what’s wrong with ‘that baby’”.

She goes on to share how his giggles in the face of constant stares and whispers create a reaction of giggles and joy in return…and how this beautiful child’s soul is touching the lives of strangers who might otherwise have judged him on his appearance alone.

The video is so moving that I recommend anyone take a few minutes out of their day to watch it…you will be overwhelmed by the power of real, unconditional, pure and unadulterated love.

What is so beautiful about this video is not only seeing this woman share her heart so openly with the world…but the pure love you can see between her and her son…which is so much more powerful than any discrimination or narrow-minded judgement.

So please join me in acknowledging and celebrating Lacey and Christian today and help me in sharing their message of inner beauty and love with others.

Today’s Fabulous Friday Female is the gorgeous Angelique Tsang!

Angelique TsangAngelique is a beautiful woman who does incredibly inspiring work…and this week she inspired me personally…

Angelique started her career in corporate international tax law at Deloitte in the Netherlands. After more than four years working with global clients to optimize tax efficient structures, she decided to focus her career on people and leadership issues.

She has been organizing workshops, events and informal meetups for a community interested in science and consciousness since 2008. In her workshops she blends psychology, spirituality and the new sciences with (cultural) archetypes as found in modern pop-culture such as movies, songs and books. Currently she has a private practice, teaches, coaches and is launching newlifetasters.com in 2012.

All of this is amazing, but this is not the reason that Angelique is this week’s Fabulous Friday Female…

As you know, recently I have faced a couple of personal challenges, which I have shared here on my blog. Even though Angelique and I have never met, when she read the posts she reached out to me to share that she thought it was inspiring for me to be so open and vulnerable about such a painful topic. When she reached out we arranged for her to do a healing session for me over Skype, which was wonderful.

I think that often people who work as coaches and mentors feel that they should be able to deal with any challenges by themselves, but if you really understand the value of coaching, healing and mentoring, you understand that everyone can benefit from it when they’re facing a challenge. The session we did together was incredibly powerful and helped me to make a huge shift.

So please join me in acknowledging and celebrating Angelique today and the amazing work she does. If you would like to find out more about Angelique and her work, you can find out all about her here: http://www.angeliquetsang.com/

Today’s Fabulous Friday Female is Denise Michaels!

DeniseToday’s Fabulous Friday Female is the lovely Denise Michaels.

As I mentioned when I started doing the Fabulous Friday Female, this project is a group effort and I wanted to acknowledge and celebrate not just the women who inspire me, but also those who inspire YOU.

So a huge thanks goes out to Stacey Hall who stepped forward and asked me to feature Denise as one of our Fabulous Friday Females.

Here’s what Stacey had to say about Denise:

Who is your Fabulous Friday Female?

Denise Michaels in Las Vegas, Nevada

Why is she a Fabulous Friday Female to YOU?

She is the author of ‘Testosterone-Free Marketing’ (sold in 15 countries). She is a pioneer in teaching both women and men around the world to break-through the old ‘guerrilla marketing’ approach to selling so that they can thoroughly enjoy the success they deserve.

She has helped me in making both of my books into best-sellers and she is now the administrator of the ‘Writers of Non-Fiction’ group on Facebook helping others to do the same.

So please join me in celebrating Denise today for the work that she does and the great way in which she does it.

Today’s Fabulous Friday Female is Tanya Paluso!

Today’s Fabulous Friday Female is the gorgeous Tanya Paluso.

Tanya’s story begins, with her gypsy spirit to travel the world. After living abroad in China, Japan, Spain and South America, she moved to New York City to begin her journey in personal development. It was there that Tanya discovered her passion for community building when she started a project to bring her colleagues at Thomson Financial together to mentor inner city girls. The project was so successful that she won the 2006 Community Champion award out of 15,000 employees and raised over $30,000 for her partner non-profit, Girls Inc.

After leaving corporate sales at Thomson to study at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, she started the non-profit Play 4 Life, Inc. to bring nutrition into inner city schools, again bringing community together for fundraiser events such as karaoke and dodgeball tournaments.

When she moved back to San Diego in 2008, she felt the calling, and started organizing small events for women to empower each other, which eventually morphed into Tribal Truth when she partnered with Novalena Betancourt.

Tribal Truth is an incredible community for women whose purpose is to ‘Put a tribe behind your dream’.  It is all about women collaborating and supporting each other with their dreams, and doing it from a really open, authentic and honest place.

I wanted to share a video that Tanya recently did about community…what I love about it is that she talks about REAL community…the fact that it’s not always pretty, it’s not always easy, and that we’re not all perfect (including herself!)…and this is perfectly OK…

London Tribal Truth LaunchWhat is amazing about Tanya is that she is really walking her talk, being open and authentic and having the tribe support her with her dream of having Tribal Truth in 100 cities in 5 years.  Having launched Tribal Truth in 5 US cities already, it has now gone international with the launch of the London tribe last weekend (http://www.tribal-truth.com/launch/london-membership)…and there are many others on the horizon!

I believe that any woman who is focused on bringing women together in support and collaboration, and doing so from a very open, feminine and honest place deserves acknowledgement and celebration.

So please join me in celebrating Tanya today, with love and gratitude x

Today’s Fabulous Friday Female is Liz Ivory!

Liz IvoryToday’s Fabulous Friday Female is the lovely Liz Ivory.

As I mentioned when I started doing the Fabulous Friday Female, this project is a group effort and I wanted to acknowledge and celebrate not just the women who inspire me, but also those who inspire YOU.

So a huge thanks goes out to Elena Blunsum who stepped forward and asked me to feature Liz as one of our Fabulous Friday Females.

Here’s what Elena had to say about Liz:

Who is your Fabulous Friday Female?

Liz Ivory, the co-founder of Broadband Consciousness (BC) from Northampton in the UK.

Why is she a Fabulous Friday Female to YOU?

I’ve worked with Liz over the last 2 1/2 years and I can’t begin to express how much doing so has affected my life and the lives of those around me! I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now if it wasn’t for  her!

Through the BC 5 day programme, which Liz runs with her partner, I really got, at a cellular level, all the stuff that beforehand I knew intellectually from all of the spiritual work I had done. I may have ‘known’ it but I certainly didn’t own it which, of course, I do now! It changed my identity – can you imagine?

I’ve continued to work with Liz on a one to one basis since then, as and when I’ve needed to.

She really is the most amazing gorgeous, authentic, loving and incredible woman! Her approach is loving beyond belief, she is compassionate to her core and her approach effective in the extreme!

She is REAL! Her work hasn’t changed just my life – she touches the lives of everyone she meets!

So please join me in celebrating Liz today for the work that she does and the beautiful way in which she does it.

If you would like to find out more about Liz then you can find her here: http://theministryofinspiration.com/about.html

Today’s Fabulous Friday Female is Ashley Judd!

Ashley JuddToday’s Fabulous Friday Female is the amazing Ashley Judd.

Ashley has been making headlines around the world this week, speaking out for women everywhere about the criticisms and judgements that are levelled at us based purely on our appearance.

Back in March, Ashley did an interview for Canadian Television, after which there was mass speculation that her “puffy face” indicated that she had recently had plastic surgery.  Alternate views were that at the age of 43 her skin was so flawless that she must have had work done.

Ashley confirmed that her appearance was simply a combination of lack of exercise over the winter and a course of steroids to help her overcome a sinus infection that she hadn’t been able to shift.

But after some vicious and brutal attacks levelled at her by the media…ranging from calling her a ‘cow’ or a ‘pig’ (not to mention that she was being called fat for being a US size 6-8, which is a UK 10-12) to saying that her husband was ‘looking for his second wife’, Ashley felt compelled to speak out.

Her response was posted here on her website and then published on the news site The Daily Beast .  She then gave this exclusive interview, which prompted another explosion of media interest:

I thought I would share a few quotes from her message:

I ask especially how we can leverage strong female to female alliances to confront and change that there is no winning here as women. It doesn’t actually matter if we are aging naturally, or resorting to surgical assistance. We experience brutal criticism. The dialogue is constructed so that our bodies are a source of speculation, ridicule, and invalidation, as if they belong to others – and in my case, to the actual public.

How does this symbolize constraints on girls and women, and encroach on our right to be simply as we are, at any given moment?

Who makes the fantastic leap from being sick, or gaining some weight over the winter, to a conclusion of plastic surgery? Our culture, that’s who. The insanity has to stop, because as focused on me, as it appears to have been, it is about all girls and women.

It affects each and every one of us, in multiple and nefarious ways: our self image, how we show up our relationships and at work, our sense of our worth, value, and potential as human beings. Join in – and help change – The Conversation.

I believe that any woman who is standing up and publicly condemning the epidemic culture of objectifying, judgment and criticism, and is promoting the building up of support, female to female alliances and acceptance deserves acknowledgement and celebration.

So please join me in celebrating Ashley Judd today and help me in sharing her message, for all women today and in generations to come.

Today’s Fabulous Friday Female is Lynne Hazelden!

Lynne HazeldenFor those of you who have been following my recent posts, it will come as no surprise to you that today’s Fabulous Friday Female is the incredible Lynne Hazelden.

When Lynne discovered she had breast cancer in 2010, aged 51, she knew she was in for a very tough time. Not only because the treatments for cancer in the UK are known to be aggressive but because her health was already seriously compromised due to a rare mercury and amalgam allergy, diagnosed at Guys Hospital in 1995. An allergic reaction to fillings had left her health and energy seriously impaired and her body highly sensitive to conventional drugs.

Lynne, who has made appearances in ‘Star Wars’, ‘The Bill’ and ‘Judge John Deed’ as well as working voluntarily with young people on The Hunger Project and for peace organisations, bravely decided to have a mastectomy. The aggressive effects that chemotherapy and other therapies can have, Lynne felt could be too much for her already compromised health.

While the surgery was successful, Lynne recently discovered another lump in her reconstructed breast and learned the cancer had affected her lymph nodes too. The second lump and some lymph nodes have now been removed but she doesn’t intend to take it easy until she’s not only raised the funds she needs for own treatment but awareness in the UK of the much kinder treatments for cancer that are proving successful in other countries.

Lynne has discovered new and successful pioneering treatment in Israel at the International Centre for Cell Therapy and Cancer Immunotherapy. The centre specialises in treatments for cancer which include a broad range of personalised therapies. With out help, Lynne is hoping to have treatment herself there but to also bring knowledge of the kinder treatments on offer to patients in the UK.

I personally feel that Lynne’s determination to help others through her own circumstances in spite of her compromised health is truly inspiring, and I would love for you to join me in celebrating her as today’s Fabulous Friday Female!

If you would like to help Lynne and her cause, then remember to Pay Forward a Pound (if you missed the post earlier this week you can find out how to help with just £1 here: http://feminine1st.com/pay-forward-a-pound-for-lynne/) to do your bit right now to help save Lynne’s life.

The launch of the Fabulous Friday Female…today’s Fabulous Friday Female is Lisa Steadman!

I love social media.

Being connected with so many other fantastic people all over the globe brings so much to my life…and continually inspire me.

As you know by now, one of my passions in life is helping women…and part of that is recognising and spreading the word of other amazing women…and sharing their work and what they do with others.

Collaborating and connecting are two of my buzz-words…I think that the more we can collaborate and support each other and the more we can connect with people who inspire us, the better.

So today I’m launching a new initiative: The “Fabulous Friday Female”…which has been inspired by a lovely lady, Claudia Crawley who I see regularly recongising and celebrating women, which I’d love to see more of us doing! 🙂

Going forward, every Friday I will be sharing with you a fabulous female who is inspiring in her own unqiue way.  It could be a celebrity, it could be my next door neighbour, it could be someone I’ve met randomly, it could be a friend, it could be anyone!  But she will fulfill 3 simple criteria:

  • She is a woman
  • She is inspiring in some way, whether big or small
  • She is someone who I would like to acknowledge, honour and celebrate

…and most importantly I would love to ask for your help on this.  I would really love for you to contact me and tell me about the women who inspire YOU.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lisa SteadmanSo, today’s Fabulous Friday Female is the amazing Lisa Steadman…
Lisa, if you don’t know her, is a force of nature.  She is a firecracker of energy and spirit who is totally infections…you can’t help but love her.
Lisa is an internationally acclaimed best-selling author, sought after speaker, breakup expert, branding consultant, and CEO of Woohoo, Inc. After spending a decade successfully branding multi-million dollar properties like Barbie while fumbling her way through romantic breakup after breakup, Lisa broke up with Corporate America and Mr. Wrong, built her own buzz worthy brand as THE Breakup Expert, became an instant best seller with her bookIt’s a Breakup, Not a Breakdown, and met and married the love of her life. Today, Lisa owns her own consulting business, branding major companies, personalities, and businesses for a 2.0 world, as well as re-branding women who are ready to reinvent themselves in love, life, and business at any age.
A frequent media contributor, Lisa has appeared on The Today Show, The Tyra Banks Show, KTLA Morning News, iVillage Live, The Fran Drescher Show, Playboy Radio, and New Zealand’s Good Morning. She regularly contributes content to popular websites including The Huffington Post, MSN, Yahoo Shine, EHarmony, and YourTango.
BUT all of this, is not the reason why Lisa is this week’s Fabulous Friday Female.
I would like to acknoweldge, honour and celebrate Lisa for a different reason today.
Because recently Lisa has had her life kind of turned upside down.  A matter of weeks ago, Lisa went from a woman who was never expecting to have children of her own, to taking in her 2 year old niece, along with her lovely husband (or Hubs, to those in the know).
The fact that in spite of her own inclinations not to have children, Lisa and her husband have stepped up to provide this beautiful little girl with the home, love and support that she needs due to difficulties with her birth parents is beautiful to me.
To hear Lisa talk about how the little ‘wee one’ has changed (and is changing!) her life for the better and to see the journey they are embarking upon together is really heartwarming.
I was a guest on Lisa’s radio show earlier this week, and at the beginning of the show Lisa shared a story about an experience with the ‘wee one’ which will make your heart melt…you can listen to it here: http://bit.ly/GUdq5P
So this is the reason that I would like to acknowledge, honour and celebrate Lisa today…and I invite you all to give a big “Woo hoo!” to Lisa for being our first, and very worthy, Fabulous Friday Female!
If you would like to connect with Lisa, you can find out more about her here: http://lisasteadman.com/
Who inspires YOU?
As today is international women’s day, I wanted to ask you a very simple question – “Who inspires you?”
But I realise that before asking this question, in order to be fair, I should also tell you who inspires me.
Now this is always a challenging question for me, as I am very very lucky…I find inspiration all around me.
So here are just a few of the many amazing women who I am lucky enough to be inspired by on a daily basis.
Kris Hallenga – Founder of the breast cancer awareness charity “Coppafeel!”
Kris and her twin sister Maren
Kris and her twin sister Maren
Kris was just an ordinary 23 year old in 2009 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Because she was so young, it had taken a monumental battle with the medical profession just to get the diagnosis completed. By the time this happened Kris was (is) at stage four, the most advanced type of cancer (there is no stage 5).
But as Kris began to cope with her routine of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and yet more radiotherapy in her own words Kris “Turned her shock and anger into pure-kick ass, immediately making it her full–time mission to encourage her friends, her generation, and YOUNG PEOPLE everywhere to keep hold of their wonderful, carefree lives by getting to know their boobs – and appreciating the fact that, shitty a reality as it may be, breast cancer can affect YOUNG PEOPLE, at any age.”
Kris and her twin sister Maren launched the incredible “CoppaFeel!” just one month after Kris’s diagnosis which led to appearances on national TV, national press and the Pride of Britain award.
More importantly they do it with fun, wit and an infectious sense of humour that is inspiring. This has led to the “Hundred Hooters” event taking place in Bath, UK this Sunday the 11th of March 2012 (http://www.coppafeel.org/hundredhooters2012) and the “Biking for Boobies 2012” hitting the streets of Cornwall in May.
Check out the CoppaFeel! Website and find out how knowing your boobs could save your life… http://www.coppafeel.org
Christina Vincent
You may have heard me mention Christina before; she is a very dear friend and such an inspiration to me.
I met Christina on a trip to New York a couple of years ago.
Claire Victor and Christina
Christina and I with our friend Victor 🙂
Christina and I should never really have met. Although we were at an event together our paths didn’t directly cross.  But when I saw her, I had this strong sense that she was someone I needed to meet. Little did I know what an impact she would have on me and my life.
On my return from the US, I kept in touch with Christina via Facebook. After a couple of mentions of health and medical insurance issues, on January 5th last year I saw a post which made me stop and pay attention. “JUST GOT THE CALL. IT’S GO TIME. PLEASE SEND PRAYERS. I’M GOING IN SWINGING!!!! TALLY-HOOOOO!!!!!”.
This was the point at which I discovered that this lovely person that I had met only a few months before had a rare form of cancer and was going in for surgery. Reality check time.
I’m not going to rave too much about her here (I could go on and on about her spirit, energy, positivity and amazing attitude in the face of adversity…) but I will say that reading her blog and interacting with her, even from the other side of the world – I have been truly inspired.
For anyone who wants to know more and are interested in seeing what real courage and a true positive outlook on life is about, feel free to check out her site here: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/foxfire
Christina holds a very special place in my heart, she is the very essence of inner beauty, generosity of spirit and pure love. I consider myself very lucky to know her.
83-year-old salsa dancer
As you may know, I’m a salsa dancer and teacher…and when I saw this lady dance at an event in London a few years ago she blew me away!
The woman dancing on stage is 83 in this video…and in the UK she began her routine with the simple words “Salsa is ageless”.
I love that she represents everything I believe about following your passions, age being nothing more than a number, and that you’re never too old to do something you love.
I aspire to still be able to dance like that when I’m 83!
…and last, but definitely no means least – My Mum
Me and my Mum!
Me and my Mum!
My family has had quite an interesting year, with a number of major surgeries taking place, other medical challenges, and big life changes (in addition to all of the usual ups and downs that life adds to the mix!)
But regardless of the fun and games that life involves, my Mum never ceases to inspire me…and the last year has only made this more apparent.
Whilst suffering significant medical challenges of her own, she almost always has a smile on her face, a kind word for anyone and will still go the extra mile to help anyone else out.
She makes me so very proud to call her my Mum as well as being one of my best friends. She is a constant reminder of how inspiring it is to deal with life’s ups and downs with such good-natured grace and positivity x
So…the only thing left to ask is – who inspires YOU?
Enjoy the rest of international women’s day…and remember to Stay Fabulous!
