Today’s Fabulous Friday Female is YOU! Why? I’d like you to tell me…

Today's Fabulous Friday Female is you!It’s all about you!

This week’s Fabulous Friday Female is You!

Today is international women’s day, which is about celebrating and honouring women all over the world.

As I do this every single week, I thought it would be great this week for me to acknowledge and celebrate you.

Let’s face it, without you, I wouldn’t be here.  You’re the one who inspires me to get out of bed every morning and do what I do.  You’re the reason Feminine 1st exists.

I could spend all day reminding you how incredible, special, and inspiring you are.

…and then a thought occurred to me.

Me celebrating and honouring you is one thing.

But inspiring you to celebrate, acknowledge and honour yourself?  That seems like a greater gift to me.

Give this gift to you today

So today I would like to ask you to acknowledge in black and white what you would like to celebrate, acknowledge and honour about yourself.  You can do it through a comment on this blog post below, through commenting on the facebook post, through sharing it with me on twitter, whichever works best for you.

Give yourself this gift of taking a moment today, and acknowledging to yourself, me and the world why you are more than a Fabulous Friday Female, why you’re Fabulous every single day!

Then share the gift…ask another women to acknowledge for herself “Why are you a fabulous female?”

I’d like to then ask you to give another woman this gift by sharing this post with them, and asking them to acknowledge, and celebrate themselves in the same way.

I can think of no better way of celebrating International Women’s Day then creating a ripple effect around the world of women inspiring each other to celebrate how amazing they really are.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you know, I would love to acknowledge, honour and celebrate the women who have inspired you as well. So if there is someone that you believe should feature as a Fabulous Friday Female, then send me an email (claire@feminine1st.com) with 3 simple details:
  • Who is your Fabulous Friday Female? (Her name and location in the world)
  • Why is she a Fabulous Friday Female to YOU? (How do you know her? What does she do? In what way is she inspiring?)
  • A photo or link to a picture of her online (if there is a reason that you would prefer not to include a photo, just let me know)
So help me to share with all of our lovely ladies the real women who inspire YOU.
…and remember, as always, to Stay Fabulous too!
Thursday Thought Quote: BElieve in YOUrself
This week’s Thursday Thought:
BElieve in YOUrself
How often do you thank YOU?
How often do you thank you?So it’s that time of year when whether you’re in the United States or not, you can’t help but notice a focus on gratitude spreading throughout the online and offline world….as people take the time to say Thank you.
Yes, unless you’re a turkey it’s all been about giving thanks as our friends in the US celebrated thanks giving last week.
This time last year I shared all about the attitude of gratitude and how important it is to our daily lives.
We say thank you about so many things in our lives….
When we think about the things that we’re grateful and say thank you for we usually have quite a significant list.
Our family, our friends, our health, our fortune to live in an area of the world where freedom and basic civil liberties aren’t in question.  Something we’ve done, somewhere we’ve been, someone we know.  Nature, music, dance, smiles, hugs, rainbows….or something as simple as being alive.
I’m lucky to spend a lot of my time around a fantastic collection of people (something I’m very grateful for) who talk about gratitude on a regular basis…it’s a regular topic of conversation and we often share the things that we say thank you for.
But today something occurred to me; in all of the times I’ve heard people share about gratitude and in particular what they want to say thank you for…I don’t think they’ve ever simply said “Me”.
How many times a day do we say Thank you?  To friends, family even people we don’t know.
In 2011, the Mail Online reported that the Brits say thank you about 5, 000 times per year, which equates to between 13 and 14 times a day.
So between thirteen and fourteen times every single day we take the time to thank someone else.
But how often do you take the time to actually thank YOU?
Think about it.
You do so much for yourself….without you, you’d never do anything, go anywhere, meet anyone or have any of the fantastic experiences that you’re grateful for.
You’re the reason you get up in the morning, and the person responsible for every achievement you’ve ever had.
You’re amazing….and if I was a betting person, I’d put money on the fact that you don’t take the time very often to just stop and acknowledge that by saying thank you to yourself.
So today I want to share with you 8 things to say thank you to yourself for, to inspire you to get started with thanking yourself:
  1. Say thank you for an achievement – Think of an achievement you’re really proud of…something that took some real effort to do…without you being committed to it and putting in your time and focus you’d never have achieved it!
  2. Say thank you for a relationship with someone you care about – Contrary to popular belief, relationships aren’t easy.  They take hard work, effort, time and thought in order to work.  If you have a relationship with anyone that you care about, then you can thank yourself for putting in the effort to cultivate that relationship in whichever way you do.  It could be with a family member, a friend, an intimate partner, even a pet.  They all take effort and you’re the reason that you have that relationship.
  3. Say thank you for something you have – If you have something that you have treated yourself to that you are grateful for…whether that be a little token that makes you laugh, something that makes you smile, or something that you have worked hard to be able to afford.
  4. Say thank you for an experience – If you have ever had an experience that you’ve enjoyed…then you’re the one to thank for it…after all, if it wasn’t for you, you’d never have had it!
  5. Say thank you for something you do – Everything you do is completely and totally down to you…so whether you’re grateful for something that you do for yourself like having a bit of a pamper, taking a walk or making time to read…or doing something for others, take the time to say thank YOU for doing it.
  6. Say thank you for going somewhere you enjoy – If you’ve ever been to a place that you really liked, whether that’s a park, a beach, a city, a country or an event, then you’ve guessed it, you’re the one to thank! Without you, going there wouldn’t have been possible.
  7. Say thank you for reading this blog – This blog is all about helping women (primarily, though I know we have a few regular male readers too!) to get the most out of life, to enjoy themselves, look after themselves, and to generally feel more fulfilled….so if you’re reading it now, that’s definitely something to thank yourself for.
  8. Say thank you for being you – Quite simply, thank you for being you.  You’re completely unique, totally amazing and perfectly imperfect…all great reasons to be grateful to you.
This list is by no means exhaustive…but it’s definitely a good place to start.
Maybe you’ll choose one of these, maybe you’ll choose them all….but either way I encourage you to think of at least one thing today that you can say thank you to yourself for, and take a moment to acknowledge that in some way.
You can write yourself a short note to say how much you appreciate yourself, tell yourself face to face in the mirror, or just take a quiet moment to close your eyes, stop and say thank you.
Whichever way you choose to say thank you, allow yourself to enjoy it, allow yourself to receive it, and remember to do it again whenever you get the chance.
Stay Fabulous!
‘You’ Time – Part 2 – Ten Top Ways to Replenish Yourself
you timeSo last week we talked about time for you. To replenish yourself, to recharge your batteries and put your needs first.
I hope that you took a little time during the week to think about what ‘you time’ would really replenish you. Understanding how we can meet our own needs and replenish our energy is so important in order that we can continue to support our loved ones in the best way possible.
One thing that it’s important to say here is that replenishing doesn’t have to come from ourselves. It’s great to be able to receive from the people we care about and let them do things for us. Learning to receive like this is fundamental as a feminine woman.
BUT it is important that we aren’t dependent on the people around us for our replenishment. We need to be able to meet our own needs and feed our own energy stores. That way the extra we receive from our friends and family becomes a lovely bonus, which we can enjoy and appreciate. It is not something that we are reliant on for our wellbeing.
So, as promised, here is a list of ten top ways to replenish yourself:
  1. Take a bubble bath – When I say take a bubble bath, I don’t mean squeeze in a quick splash in the bath between doing other things. I mean set aside an hour, tell everyone that you are unavailable, turn off your phone, and ignore the doorbell. Light some candles, play some relaxing music, take your favourite book or magazine, and enjoy a long hot soak with no interruptions.
  2. Ten Minutes of Morning You Time – Take ten minutes every morning just for you. Put some relaxing music on your ipod, close your eyes and focus on you. Take some lovely long deep breaths and relax. Working your way up from your toes to the top of your head, take time to focus on and relax each single part of your body. Let any tension just melt away. Pay particular attention to your back, shoulders and neck. Then take a few minutes to think about what you’re going to do for yourself that day and how great it will feel when you do. It doesn’t take long to do, but this little piece of time in the morning will set you up for the day.
  3. Dance! – Take 10 minutes where you can be completely by yourself, put your favourite music on and have a dance about. Not ‘trying to look cool at a club’ dancing…but the sort of dancing you did when you were 5 years old…carefree, playful, purely about having fun!
  4. Make some time to read a great book – Taking some time to escape into another world for a short while is a great way to replenish yourself. Find a book that you love and get lost in a great story to take a break from the stresses of life for half an hour.
  5. Re-hydrate – Dehydration is the cause of so many problems in our bodies. A lack of water can make you feel weak, reduce your energy levels, and even affect your ability to concentrate. So taking time to make sure you have enough water in your body will make you feel much better! 🙂
  6. Do something creative – Feminine women are naturally very creative, so take some time to indulge your creative side and stimulate that part of your personality. You could paint, draw, write, sew, sing, dance…the list is endless. If you have a passion to try something new, then embrace it…give it a go!
  7. Get Outside – Even a quick ten-minute walk outside can make all the difference to how you’re feeling. Take some time to go for a walk and just be. Focus on the things that you can see, the sounds that you can hear. Look at the sky, the clouds, the trees…appreciate all the great things that are around you and enjoy being in nature.
  8. Pamper Yourself – Indulge your feminine side for a while and take some time to pamper yourself. Do your nails, give yourself a home facial or pedicure. Take an hour or so to lavish some attention on yourself.
  9. Find something that will make you laugh – Laughing is a great way to very quickly feel good again. As well as making us feel good in the moment, it actually has some real tangible long-term benefits. It can reduce stress, boost your immune system, and provides a physical and emotional cleanse. So find a good comedy film, jump on to youtube to find the latest clips for a laugh or look out some old photos to get the giggles flowing…
  10. Find some water – No, I don’t mean in the nearest tap…and I’m not going back to suggestion 1 here! As feminine women, being associated with the Yin energy we have a natural affinity for water. So if you have the ability to, spend some time by natural body of water. This will feed your soul and energise you. Take a little time and go to a local river, or lake. If you have the opportunity, spend some time by a waterfall or even by the ocean. Enjoy listening to the sound of the water, breathe and just be.
To give your ‘time for you’ sessions a kick-start, here’s a great song to inspire you to find some imaginative ways to be “feeling good”…
