But in one very significant way, Aisha is different – you see, she has a rare immune deficiency disorder and was not expected to even live to her first birthday.
But Aisha believes in miracles.
So inspite of her challenges, at age 15 and battling pulmonary fibrosis she has accomplished many things that others wouldn’t even attempt in her situation, because she has dared to dream.
Her accomplishments so far include modeling in a wheelchair, learning to paint, and dancing at her cousin’s wedding.
In this inspiring INK talk, Aisha shares 5 lessons she’s learned through the ups and downs of her journey that everyone would benefit each of us to take to heart:
“Each night I would dream. I would visualize what may seem like the smallest of things. I’d imagine myself walking around the market in London with my friend. I’d dream of dancing endlessly at my cousin’s wedding. I’d visualize things down to every little detail. The color of my outfit, which song I’d dance to, the setting of the stage and my family celebrating. I dreamed of running around the garden with my two dogs. I wished that I’d get out of that wheelchair and actually walk, to my bathroom. I’d play a movie, in my mind, of all the things that seemed completely impossible in that one moment.”
